Failure to replace worn-out shackle pins and bushes can result in shock loads on the springs, potentially leading to breakage near the ends, especially at the main leaf’s eye bushes. It’s crucial to use shackle pins and bushes of the correct specifications and regularly lubricate them to prevent premature wear and ensure there are no gaps between the pin and bush.

The tightness of U-bolts significantly affects spring maintenance. There should be no flexing at the center of the spring. Always torque U-bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications. When installing or replacing spring assemblies, avoid using old components as they may be stretched and unable to maintain clamping force.

While shock absorbers don’t bear the load, their proper installation aids in effectively distributing load and minimizing vibrations during vehicle operation. Correctly fitted shock absorbers significantly reduce spring wear and tear.

Rubber buffers, positioned either on top of the springs or below the chassis, prevent direct contact between the springs and chassis. Over time, these buffers can sustain damage. Failure to replace damaged buffers promptly may result in the springs’ top hitting the chassis under adverse operating conditions, causing damage to the springs.
